Cody Riffle (shot put) and Morsi Rayyan (10,000m) closed their careers with All-America Honorable Mention honors, and Mason Ferlic advanced to Friday's steeplechase final during day-one action at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Morsi Rayyan (10,000m), Cody Riffle (shot put) and Mason Ferlic (5,000m; 3,000m steeplechase) will represent U-M this weekend (June 10-12) at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Co-captain Cody Riffle heaved a 62-3.25 ft. (18.98m) shot put throw on his second attempt, finishing ninth in a loaded field and securing his place in Oregon next month for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Co-captain Mason Ferlic secured his bid to next month's NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 10-13) by finishing the 3,000m steeplechase with a new lifetime best (8:35.45).

Morsi Rayyan clocked 30:08.83 to finish 10th place in the 10,000m run to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships next month (June 10-13) in Eugene, Oregon.

The Maize and Blue will be represented by a group of 10 Wolverines this week at the NCAA East Regional Preliminary Rounds (May 28-30) hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.

It has been 80 years since Jesse Owens set four world records at Ferry Field, a feat commemorated by a plaque on a brick monument that also honors U-M student-athletes who died in service to their country.
