In town on invitation of Michigan graduate Honolulu Marathon directors, Michigan cross country head coach Kevin Sullivan decided hours before the race to run and crossed the finish line in impressive fashion, winning his age group.

Repeat All-American Mason Ferlic (13th) was joined in the top 80 by Ben Flanagan (64th) and August Pappas (79th) as Michigan took 11th at the NCAA Championships under first-year coach Kevin Sullivan.

August Pappas, a performance music/percussion major in the School of Music, performs in the University Symphony Orchestra while competing with an elite group of Michigan runners.

The 18th-ranked Maize and Blue will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., this Saturday (Nov. 22) to cap off the 2014 season with the NCAA Championships at Indiana State's LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

Michigan earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, which are slated for next Sunday (Nov. 22) at 1 p.m.

All-region performances by Mason Ferlic (7th), Ben Flanagan (10th) and August Pappas (18th) helped the Wolverines take third place at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships.

The 12th-ranked Maize and Blue will return to Madison, Wisconsin, this Friday (Nov. 14) to continue the championship season with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at the Badgers' Zimmer Championship Course.

Mason Ferlic (4th), Ben Flanagan (13th) and Tony Smoragiewicz (15th) crossed among the top 15 runners to help the 14th-ranked Maize & Blue take runner-up at the Big Ten Championships.

The 14th-ranked Maize and Blue will return to Iowa City, Iowa, this Sunday (Nov. 2) to begin the championship season with the Big Ten Championships at the Hawkeyes' Ashton Cross Country Course.
